Environmental Health & Safety Resources for UC ANR developed safety resources for the UC Master Food Preserver Program. Their mission is to prevent injuries and to protect the environment by providing the best Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) services to all UC ANR employees, volunteers, and the public.
Safety Notes
UC Master Food Preserver Safety Notes are one-page summaries of information to help volunteers and coordinators stay healthy and safe while working on home food preservation. Notes are developed by UC ANR EH&S, with input and review from the statewide UC Master Food Preserver staff.
Program Safety Manual
The UC Master Food Preserver Safety Manual provides guidance for volunteers on best practices to reduce the risk of injury or illness during UC Master Food Preserver-sponsored activities. This is a great manual for training new or experienced volunteers about UC ANR policies and best practices to maintain a safe volunteer environment.
Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnity Agreement
A Waiver of Liability, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnity Agreement form should be signed anytime there is possible risk for participating in an activity or event. Check with EH&S for specific times the form is required.
MISKIS_WEB Training
The MISKIS_Web online training is a tool for volunteers to learn safe food-handling techniques such as clean, seperate, cook, and chill. Modules are provided in English and Spanish. Contact the statewide office at ucmfp@ucanr.edu for Master Food Preserver test results.
