Invasive species are reshaping California’s natural and urban landscapes. This mini-series explores the many fronts of invasion, from harmful garden pests and aquatic hitchhikers to destructive tree pests, invasive weeds, and the policies that guide prevention and response. 

Join us from 11am – 12pm on the first Wednesday of each month to learn about invasive pests and their impacts in California. This series is free and open to the public but advance registration is required. All webinars will be recorded and posted to our YouTube channel

August 6, 2025 – Invasive Pests in Your Edible Garden

Don’t let pests take a bite out of your harvest! Join us as we kick off our invasive species mini-series with an informational webinar on invasive pests that impact your edible garden. We’ll cover a range of species that can damage plants like citrus, tomatoes, strawberries, stone fruits, and more. From the Asian citrus psyllid and Huanglongbing disease to fruit flies and stink bugs, learn how to recognize signs of these pests. September 3, 2025 – Protect California’s Waters from Invasive Species

The introduction and spread of invasive species in California’s waterways have wide-ranging consequences, from impeding water delivery systems to damaging recreation areas and wetland ecosystems. In this webinar, Martha Volkoff from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Invasive Species Program will discuss aquatic invasive species like golden mussels and nutria. She will also share simple actions you can take to help protect our waters from these destructive pests.     Register here

 

October 1, 2025 – The Growing Threat to Our Trees

California’s forests and urban landscapes face growing threats from invasive tree pests like beetles and fungi, which have already killed hundreds of thousands of trees across the state. Join forestry expert Beatriz Nobua-Behrmann for an educational webinar exploring important invasive pests that impact California’s trees.
