Amador Compost Learning Center

A new Community Compost Site opens in June 2025 at Mother Lode Land Trust’s C and C Ranch. This is a collaborative effort by the Land Trust, University of California Master Gardeners, Amador Waste Management and Recycling Department, and is supported by a generous grant from CalRecycle. This partnership was formed to help Amador County residents meet the requirements of SB 1383, which includes a 75% reduction of organic waste in CA landfills by 2025.

Thanks to this generous grant, the Master Gardeners of Amador County have been busy planning and building a brand-new space within the Community Compost Site which is dedicated to the promotion and education of backyard composting.

The first class to be held in the new Compost Learning Center will be: Backyard Composting on June 14th from 9am-12pm. Registration is requested, walk ins are welcome.
