Are you interested in becoming a Master Gardener? 

Applications are now Open!

Do you enjoy getting your hands dirty? Do you enjoy sharing your knowledge? Do you want to meet new people who share your gardening passion? Then you may be the ideal candidate to become a UCCE Master Gardener. You will be trained by the University of California Cooperative Extension in science-based horticulture and then volunteer to teach others on sustainable gardening practices.

18-Week Master Gardener Volunteer Training

Topics include: botany, soil, plant pathology, home orchards, entomology, water, pests, landscape trees, composting, plant identification, propagation, and so much more! Classes will take place in Amador.

Amador County Training begins January 2026

Want to learn more?  We will host orientation meetings so you can learn about the UCCE Master Gardener Program, our community involvement, your participation requirements, and the training expectations. All applicants must attend one of the orientation meetings in their county.

Master Gardener volunteers work in the community providing public education classes on a variety of home gardening topics including fire resilient landscape, pollinator habitat, home orchard care, vegetable gardening and more! Keep an eye out for Master Gardeners at local events like the county fair, farmers markets and many other outreach events throughout the year. Volunteers are here to help you solve your garden problems and mysteries.
