Asian Persimmon Time!

It's that time of year again Asian persimmon (Diospyros kaki) harvest time! If you're unfamiliar with persimmons, they're orange colored fruit native to China. Asian persimmon seeds were first import in 1863 by William Saunders of the USDA.

Many years ago, back in 2007 I wrote a blog about the Hammerhead Worm Bipalium species. This pest seems to have reared its unusual head again. Most of the time people don't even see it, but it's there lurking in the garden. The Bipalium species is a hammerhead worm or broadhead planarians.
