I recently visited family in Escondido. Just a few days before I arrived, the area was deluged with 4 inches of rain in a single day. The result was spectacular many cacti and succulents were blooming.

It's hard to find enough time these days to keep up on the essential things so some of you might be wondering how I justify taking time and incurring the expense to visit our facilities around the state.

Have you ever said "Hi" to a watermelon? No? Well, you can "meet and greet" a watermelon at the Bohart Museum of Entomology during the seventh annual campuswide Biodiversity Museum Day on Saturday, Feb. 17 at the University of California, Davis. But you can't thump it.

Time got away from us at Senior Leadership Team meeting the other day so topics I thought we might have time to discuss will need to be addressed in small group discussions. Based on the calendar, it looks like that might take some time.
