About the Event

Gardening for Pollinators

Description: What are the basic needs of bees, butterflies and hummingbirds and how can you provide those requirements? What are their favorite plants and flowers? Learn how to garden to increase the desirability of your environment. Join us for a talk on attracting pollinators to your yard, be it large or small.

UC Master Gardener Presenter Cindy Burgdorf: Cindy has been a Master Gardener for 16 years. She has been gardening for over 70 years (she started with cherry tomatoes in her Grandmother’s garden). On her 1 1⁄2 acre property she has year-round vegetable gardens, gardens devoted to bees and butterflies, six bee hives, ten chickens, a worm bin and six compost bins. Her yard is a Monarch Waystation (Monarch Watch), a certified Butterfly Garden (NABA), certified WildLife Habitat (NWF) and certified Bee Friendly Garden (Pollinator Partnership).
