About the Event

From Dreams to Success, Making Your School Garden Education Program Work!!

The UC Master Gardener Program of San Diego County is presenting a day-long conference covering a broad range of speakers and hands-on workshops to help you create, manage, and teach in your school garden and other outdoor spaces. For the incredibly inexpensive price of $25 (lunch included), here are some of the highlights planned:

  • Create and sustain your school garden. Wherever you are in your process, this pair of presentations by experienced UC Master Gardeners will help you plan and implement a highly effective school garden program.
  • Learn about gardening books for children. Meet with a children's book author and learn about a range of educational books for elementary students
  • Orchard fruits and berries workshop. Best practices, tips and tricks to grow these treats in your school garden.
  • How to create a native garden. Hear from a nationally recognized expert and author on how to create a native garden as a tool for learning on your school campus.
  • Irrigation workshop. A hands-on session led by irrigation professionals will show you how to set up a simple and effective irrigation system for your specific gardening needs, as well as maintaining and trouble-shooting your existing system.
  • More breakout sessions and hands-on workshops on many subjects provided for elementary, middle, and high school educators.

We hope that you will put this amazing event on your calendar right away. Whether your garden program is struggling, you want to start a school garden, or you have a successful school garden education program you want to improve upon (or simply to share your successes with others), this is the opportunity for you!
