This year's California Small Farm Conference is March 4 – 6 in Valenica, with the theme, "Cultivating the next generation." The conference is the state's premier gathering of small-scale farmers, agricultural students, farmers market managers and others involved in small farms. The event includes day-long short courses, on-farm tours, 25 focused workshops, engaging keynote addresses and many networking opportunities.

Presentations from University of California experts at the conference will address many topics, including:

  • food safety
  • starting a new farm
  • agritourism
  • new technologies
  • farming with limited water
  • how to recognize snake-oil products
  • pests
  • organic certification and integrity
  • risk management

We will post PowerPoint presentations from UC presenters on the Small Farm Program website after the conference, so please check back.

The UC Small Farm Program also presents the Pedro Ilic Awards at the conference, to honor dedication to small-scale farming. Find out who is awarded the honor this year.
