Emerald Star Application Process
(Historic Record Book Project)
Eligible Years: 2025–2026 and 2026–2027
Eligible Ages: 13–18 years old
This Emerald Star opportunity is designed for 4-H members completing the Historic Record Book Project. Applicants must demonstrate leadership, planning, and follow-through to complete a meaningful project that benefits the Stanislaus County 4-H program.
To Successfully Earn the Emerald Star
Applicants must:
✅ Complete their approved project
✅ Attend all scheduled meetings
✅ Submit a written project completion report and evaluation
✅ Report their project completion to the Leaders Council
Requirements
Initial Interview
At the first scheduled meeting, applicants will be interviewed by the Emerald Star Committee. During this meeting, the following will be discussed:
- Project scope and timeline
- Estimated costs and funding sources
- Project impact on the 4-H program
- Feasibility and appropriateness of the project
If approved, the applicant will be asked to present their project at the next Leaders Council Meeting.
Mid-Project Review
A second meeting will serve as a mid-point check-in. The applicant will:
- Share their progress
- Report any updates or needed changes
- Receive guidance or feedback from the committee
Final Review
At the third and final meeting, the committee will:
- Evaluate whether all goals were met
- Review any adjustments made along the way
- Discuss the overall outcome of the project
Additional Requirements
- The project must be approved by the applicant’s Community Club Leader (CCL) and/or project leader.
- If the project involves a Farmyard Experience display, it must be:
- Approved by the Farmyard Experience Chairperson
- A new display (not a revision of a past display)
- Aligned with any additional requirements the chairperson may set
Recognition
Emerald Star recipients will be recognized at the County Awards Night Ceremony upon successful completion of all requirements.
