This Month In The Garden – June 2025

Forget June Gloom! Think June Bloom! It is time for another This Month In The Garden edition for the month of June on In The Garden with UCCE Master Gardeners. Our MG hosts Teena Spindler and Katrina Kirkeby have a ton of activities to get you out in the garden during, probably, the last pleasant (weather wise) month so far this year. You can start by getting acquainted with your local garden center. Look at what might be right your garden setting. Tropicals perhaps? If you have fruit trees right now, expect some shedding of small fruit now called “June Drop”. The tree knows how much it can support and might self-pick in case you personally don’t thin the fruit. Strawberries with holes in them? Find out ways to treat that problem. Soil amendments like acidifiers for gardenias, for example, and more food for your hungry spring veggies are considerations for this month.
