Description

The Pioneer Veterans Hall is getting Ready for Wildfire! You’re invited to help us make this important community space safer and more inviting for years to come. The Hall has been chosen to showcase Defensible Space and Firewise Landscaping for Amador County and beyond. It will become a publicly accessible, living educational resource to those living in the Wildland Urban Interface to replicate at home. To make this possible, we need YOUR HELP to remove shrubs and prune trees around the hall according to Defensible Space guidelines, and prepare the area for native plants compatible with Firewise Landscaping. Come ready to get your hands dirty! On Saturday, October 18th, we will plant seedlings to complete our Firewise Landscaping project; we hope you can join us for this event as well!

Purpose

Engage local volunteers to create Defensible Space and Firewise Landscaping around a multi-use public meeting hall, the Pioneer Veterans Hall, to serve as an educational demonstration site for wildfire risk reduction. This opportunity is made possible through partnerships at the state and local level, including: Amador Resource Conservation District, Amador County, University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources, UC Master Gardeners, and Bureau of Land Management, Keep California Beautiful, Keep America Beautiful,  and California Climate Action Corps, a program of California Volunteers.
