UC Master Gardeners will lead free tours and answer questions at the San Carlos Native Plant Habitat Garden and Herb Garden. Stop by anytime; no registration required. Visitors will receive free wildflower packets.
The six-year-old Native Plant Habitat Garden demonstrates the use of low-water plants in the landscape, without the usage of chemicals, pesticides or fertilizers. In addition to the aesthetic appeal of this low-maintenance garden, docents will point out the habitat features that invite native birds, bees, butterflies and other fauna to live, interact and support each other in this environment.
The Herb Garden is divided into several sections, Mediterranean, California Native, Latin, Mint, and Eastern, and demonstrates how to grow and care for a variety of herbs. You can explore this garden by using touch, smell and taste.
