About the Event

Homegrown Herbs Made Easy

Description: Join us to learn the basics of growing and enjoying herbs in your home garden. We’ll talk about herbs throughout history, in the wild, as pollinator plants, in the landscape, and in the kitchen. Selected herbs will be highlighted and discussed in depth. Plus we’ll share tips on cultivation, propagation, storage methods, preparation, and preservation.

UC Master Gardener Presenter Shilpa Thanawala: A San Carlos-based UC Master Gardener, Shilpa enjoys growing herbs, fruit, and vegetables to use for cooking and baking. Her small home garden contains more than 30 varieties of fruit trees, canes, and shrubs, a large herb garden, plants to support pollinators and beneficial insects, and California natives. She grows new and uncommon varieties from seed whenever possible and is always excited to share experiences and plants with both new and expert gardeners. Her current focus as a Master Gardener is in the areas of soil health and climate protection.

Registration is not required.
