This virtual group will be hosted by UCCE Specialty Crops Advisor, Ellie Andrews, to provide guidance, support, mentorship, and community-building for specialty crop growers who are interested in applying to the Western SARE Farmer/Rancher Grant. There is no obligation to apply this year. The deadline is October 23, 2024.

Ellie Andrews (UCCE) will host 4 virtual Zoom meetings:

• Meeting 1: 4:00-5:00pm on Thursday, May 30, 2024 - Orientation to the WSARE Farmer/Rancher Grant & Brainstorming Project Ideas with Ellie Andrews (UCCE) & Layla Aguilar (CAFF)
• Meeting 2: 4:00-5:00pm on Thursday, June 20, 2024 - Understanding the Call for Proposals with Ellie Andrews (UCCE)
• Meeting 3: Date TBD in July, 2024 - Mentorship and Guidance with local farmer Caiti Hachmyer, who received this grant previously (learn about her project here!), and Ellie Andrews (UCCE)
• Meeting 4: 4:00-5:00pm on September 26, 2024 - Overview of the Online Submission System & Guidance with Miranda Kersten (WSARE) and Ellie Andrews (UCCE)
