Who We are:

The CalFresh Healthy Living, UCCE program of Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Sutter, and Yuba Counties collaborates with school and community-based partners, UC Master Gardeners and Farm Advisors, and 4-H programs to provide comprehensive, researched-based nutrition, garden and physical activity programming to diverse low-income communities. Recognizing that nutrition and physical activity behaviors are dependent on many factors including individual knowledge and skills and social determinants including access to resources, opportunities and regional and institutional policies, we work with partners to identify and address barriers to health and wellness.

What We Do:

The CalFresh Healthy Living, UCCE program of Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Sutter, and Yuba Counties uses a variety of educational approaches to reach low-income elementary school students, their parents, school administrators, school educators, and community members using SNAP-Ed approved curriculum.

Who We Reach

In 2024 CalFresh Healthy Living, UCCE Butte Cluster reached over 10,000 youth with nutrition, gardening and physical activity education.

School-based programming extends from the classroom to improved access and quality of physical activity through field-days, school gardens, and school wellness committee work.

Community-based programming reaches low-income adults who are: parents/caregivers, individuals new to the community, and individuals transitioning back into the community.

Direct education classes, and events guide individuals to make healthy food and lifestyle choices within a limited budget.
