Scholarships

EVERETT "FUZZY" FEAVER MEMORIAL 4-H SCHOLARSHIP 
 

This $1,500 scholarship is awarded annually to a present Kings County 4-H member who is graduating from high school and planning additional education at a vocational school, community college or four-year college or university. 

Requirements:

  • The member must have already completed at least two years of 4-H at the time of application.
  • The emphasis for selection of the recipient will be on the leadership and community service exhibited by the member in 4-H and other settings.

O.D. "Mac" McCUTCHEON MEMORIAL 4-H AGRONOMY/AG SCHOLARSHIP


This $500 scholarship is awarded annually to a present or former Kings County 4-H member who is graduating from high school and planning to major in agronomy or another discipline in agriculture.

Mr. McCutcheon was the Agronomy Farm Advisor for the University of California Cooperative Extension in Kings County from 1947 to 1982.  A native of West Virginia, he left the university there just one class short of his degree, to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  Following the war, he finished his degree at UC Davis. Even before working for Cooperative Extension, he served as a 4-H leader, and as a Farm Advisor, continued to support the Kings County 4-H program as a leader and parent.  

Requirements: 

  • Students must have completed at least three years in the Kings County 4-H program.
  • Preference will be given to students planning to major in agronomy or crop science.  
  • If there is no sufficiently qualified applicant in this major, consideration will begiven to those majoring in any other form of agriculture, including agri-business.

MARION BRAZIL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP


This $6,000 scholarship is only available to those who successfully completed their term as a Kings County 4-H Ambassador (formerly All Star). 

This scholarship is from the Marion Brazil Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in honor of Mr. Brazil by his wife in 1961. Recipients are eligible to receive their first $1,500 installment Brazil 4-H All Star Scholarship upon enrolling in their second full time term at an accredited college, university or trade school in California. They must be enrolled as a full-time student, defined as 12 quarter units or 15 semester units. Forms will be mailed from the UCCE Kings Office.

Recipients may apply to have their scholarship renewed for a total of four $1,500 installments while working i undergraduate studies.

Requirements: 

  • Students must remain full-time students.
  • Students maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.
