Flowers After the Rains
The front yard has not looked very promising with all the rains. The weeds are growing everywhere. Thank goodness for the chickens that help curb their growth by eating some weeds and scratching for bugs.

Since it's a sunny day, I thought I'd walk out there today to see what else is happening.
To my pleasant surprise, the flowers have started blooming. There are fragrant red freesias (Freesia spp.), yellow and orange calendulas or pot marigold ( Calendula officinalis), rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), California poppies(Eschscholzia californica), even the lupine (Lupinus spp.) is starting to open its blue flowers.

Mother Nature keeps working even when we're not looking. I can't wait to see what else I'll be seeing soon. As I'm sitting here writing this, I can see an asparagus spear peeking up from the ground.

More to come…
