Trip Away
My daughter and I are visiting Quebec City, Canada on vacation. It's been two days so far, sightseeing in the beautiful old town Vieux-Quebec. But as luck would have it, the next 5 days will be raining with thunderstorms! Right now there is a “severe thunderstorm” per Weather.com happening and we are comfortably in our Airbnb. What better time for me to write a garden blog (or three)? Haha!
Since a storm was approaching, this morning as my daughter was still sleeping, I went searching for an “epicerie avec legumes”. Please pardon my Google-translated French, it is supposed to mean a food market with fresh vegetables. Before locating the market, I wandered a little off the beaten track into an urban complex setting. It felt safe as Canadians are generally very nice and helpful. A welcome surprise was finding an apartment complex frontage that has edible landscaping. Here are some pics:
The apartment's edible landscape, which includes flowering plants and trees.
Grapes

Blackchokeberry

Lamb's quarters, and Vietnamese coriander “rau ram”

Chili pepper

Aubergineaka eggplant

Tomato and kale

Raspberry

The apartment complex

highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum)

Au revoir et a bientot!
