I had an unsightly place in my backyard where the four fences came together. At one time, I had wooden planter boxes growing herbs and flowers. But over the years the planter boxes finally gave away, and I forgot about that corner. Even though it was pushed to the back of my mind, I knew it was always there and said, “Sometime I will have to fix that corner.” The years went by, but finally this year the area improved.
So, I asked my granddaughter's husband, Peter, if he would enlarge the paving area back to the fence. This got rid of the unsightly area and made that side of the yard mostly drought-tolerant except for an area where a small pollinator garden exists. The hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees love where I have salvias, iris, cornflower, a barrel containing an art piece, and lavender growing. By enlarging the unsightly, corner this part of the yard is easier to maintain and took at.
I do not have any before pictures for you, so just imagine an unsightly corner area. The picture below shows Peter's handiwork. The sunflowers are all individual pieces he made from concrete painted them then placed together to form the sunflowers. Wish you could see it in person. The following picture does not do it justice.
