An Unusual Garden Aid

As a young child growing up in Asia, I learned how to use chopsticks almost immediately after mastering use of the fork and spoon.  Now, even having lived here in the US all my adult life, I am as comfortable using chopsticks as western cutlery.  Because their tips are finely tapered, chopsticks can be used to pick up very small pieces of food.

Not surprising then, that chopsticks would come to mind this morning, when I was surveying a messy succulent patch covered in leaves blown about by last night's wind. Picking the leaves wearing garden gloves was just too clumsy.  And no way was a blower going to work, as it would displace my tiny succulents and collected beach pebbles.

So out came a new pair of disposable chopsticks from the kitchen. They did the work so well that I will use them again after the next windy night.
