What to Plant? What to Plant?

I recently moved houses and now have a beautiful yard to work with. Now the main question that has been running throw my mind since the day I went to the open house is, what am I going to plant?!

All I keep thinking is "thank goodness I'm currently in the UC Master Gardener program!". Every week I've been learning soooooo much and feel way more confident taking on my garden project.

The garden currently has some plants that I hadn't seen before. For example, there's this really tall skinny cactus with huge thorns at its base. It looks like a regular prickly pear cactus on top where there is new growth. If anybody has more information on it I would love to know more.

Another fun plant that was already a part of the house is this beautiful Angel Trumpet. Oh, I am so excited to see the color of the blossoms.

With the tools I've acquired as a Master Gardener, making this garden will be my little oasis. I've always wanted to be able to grow my own vegetables in my backyard and can't wait to get started on it.




Qué plantar? ¿Qué plantar?

Recientemente me moví de casa y ahora tengo un hermoso jardín para trabajar en. Ahora, la pregunta principal que ha estado rondando mi mente desde el día que vi la casa en persona es ¿qué voy a plantar? Todo lo que sigo pensando es "¡gracias a Dios que estoy en el programa de UC Master Gardener!". Cada semana he estado aprendiendo muchísimo y me siento mucho más seguro al asumir mi proyecto de jardín. El jardín actualmente tiene algunas plantas que no había visto antes. Por ejemplo, hay un nopal muy alto y flaco con enormes espinas en la base. Parece un nopal de tuna regular en la parte superior donde hay un nuevo crecimiento. Si alguien tiene más información al respecto, me encantaría saber más.

Otra planta divertida que ya formaba parte de la casa es esta hermosa trompeta de ángel. Oh, estoy tan emocionada de ver el color de las flores.

Con las herramientas que he adquirido como maestro jardinero en la elaboración de este jardín será mi pequeño oasis. Siempre quise poder cultivar mis propias verduras en mi patio trasero y no veo la hora de empezar a hacerlo.
