This year I decided to try my hand at growing seeds. I have never actually done this, even though I have done so many other projects in the garden over the years. I picked up packets of cosmos and bachelor's buttons from my local nursery. I had not even put any thought into it, like what methods I would like to try, heat controlled covering with plastic, etc. I just picked out different pots in my garden and said these will be my experimental seed pots and give it a go. So, I sprinkled the seeds out and very carefully watered so I did not drown the little ones. To my surprise it totally worked, and they are almost ready to bloom! The joy of every gardener, awaiting the new babies and monitoring with amazement and surprise each day awaiting their every growth stage. I started the bachelor's buttons on June 16th, the cosmos on June 6th. They are almost ready to bloom. I could not be happier. I chose these delicate wildflowers because I love their airy nature and want to use them in fresh floral arrangements. I have never had the opportunity to use cosmos in fresh bouquets, but plenty of times using the bachelor's buttons. Looking forward to more fun in the garden next time. I would love to try artichokes next!
