It may not be too late to check out this little gem in Woodland. I had heard of the Mezger Zinnia Patch but had never been. I have a fondness for zinnias ever since I used them in my student project at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Zinnias are a wonderful cut flower and I figured since I had the time, why not try, and find the patch.
I first spotted information about the Zinnia Patch on Facebook (be sure to like their page). The Mezger's have a page there and since I work in Woodland occasionally, I vowed to stop by. About a month ago, I decided to do just that. They have a new location, which I will provide for you. I used my GPS to get there and followed the signs they posted on old tomato bins (the big ones).
I arrived. It was bigger than I had expected. However, I then realized, I had not brought a vase or my handpruners for cutting. I was devastated! I exited my car, and a surprise was waiting on a table…scissors and handpruners! They were just laying there, waiting for me!Yay!

I surveyed the patch. It was incredible. There were folks taking pictures, plein air painting and cutting flowers. Besides that, butterflies and bees visited the flowers. It was enchanting to say the least.

The location is 11990 County Road 96 in Woodland. There are a few guidelines you should follow when visiting the patch.
- Share the flowers with others.
- The patch is open from sunup to sundown, 7 days a week.
- Do not disturb the residents on either side of the patch.
- Do not pick the corn.
- If there is a vase, feel free to take it and there is water provided.
- You can use the pruners/scissors but be sure to put them back on the table them you're done with them.
- You can donate vases to the patch, just leave them on one of the two tables in front of the patch.
