Doug and Rose were avid gardeners, their last name was even Gardener. They had been able to cultivate that passion in their children, Spade and April. As the spring planting season approached, the family decided to take a trip to the garden center to stock up on supplies.
Doug led the way, pulling a cart behind him as he browsed the aisles. Rose trailed behind, admiring the colorful flowers and the variety of tools on display.
Spade, being a teenager, rolled his eyes at his parents' enthusiasm, but he secretly enjoyed spending time with his family and helping with their gardening endeavors.
April, on the other hand, who was home from college for spring break, was ecstatic to be surrounded by all the vibrant plants and flowers. She eagerly picked out packets of seeds, exclaiming "I love gardening, it's so relaxing. It really helps me to veg out."
Rose, April's mom, added, "Yes, I agree, Gardening is like therapy. It's a great way to heal your soil."
Spade turned to his family and said, "We've really turned-up some great deals today, haven't we?"
His mom giggled, "You're such a garden-variety comedian, Spade."
Doug chimed in, "I just hope we don't go over our bud-get!"
April added, "We can't leaf here without getting everything we need!"
The Gardener's made their way to the register. Another customer overhearing the Gardener's and seeing their basket winked at them and commented, "I planted some herbs in my garden, but they never grew. I guess I didn't give them enough thyme."
The cashier added, "I'm a big fan of gardening. It really helps me to compost my thoughts” and reached into the till to give the Gardener's their change. She asked if they needed any help loading their car. Doug replied, "No thank you, we've got it all under control. We're a family of Gardeners, after all. We really know how to dig in to get a job done!"
The family left the garden center with their cart full of gardening supplies, feeling happy and accomplished. They couldn't wait to get started on their spring planting and see the fruits of their labor blossom.
