Forage Production & Irrigated Pasture Weeds

Forage Production This was again an exceptional year with rainfall above normal and extended into the spring. It was very nice to see some areas of green grass still in late May as we finished up our spring production clipping.

Results from artichoke thistle trial

Last entry I talked about the problems with artichoke thistle (Cynara cardunculus L.) in the Sacramento Delta and other coastal regions. Again, this thistle was introduced to California as the cultivated artichoke, but escaped to become a serious rangeland weed.
