A recent article covers pollination, especially of flowers in dark places. Dark, meaning at night, and in places like forests where bees might not go, because it's too dark. But beetles and bats, and moths and slugs might thrive in these environments. Even cockroaches have been shown to be pollinators. Work in New Zealand has shown that moths might be significant pollinators of avocado and do all of their work at night. This is a great BBC article about alternative pollinators. Quite eye opening and brings light to the darkness.
