In 2021, the Delta Stewardship Council, with input from a technical advisory committee, released the report Delta Adapts: Creating a Climate Resilient Future for the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta.
In 2022, I estimate rice acreage in the Delta, south of the Yolo Bypass, was at least 8,000 acres. Most Delta rice is grown in San Joaquin County, but there is some acreage in Sacramento County.
Results from the 2021-22 statewide small grains variety trial are now available. Last year, we evaluated grain yield and protein of common wheat, triticale, and barley varieties in a commercial field on Tyler Island in the Delta (Figure 1).
In 2022, the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Conservancy, in partnership with the Department of Water Resources and the Office of the Delta Watermaster, launched the Delta Drought Response Pilot Program (DDRPP).
