Table 1 shows the results of the 2018 UCCE Delta field corn variety trial, located on Tyler Island. Three replicate blocks of fourteen varieties were planted on May 9th by air planter. The fourteen varieties included 12 varieties submitted by seed companies and two submitted by the grower.
For the last two years, we have trialed wheat and triticale varieties in the Delta, and we thank the folks on Staten Island for hosting the trial. The Delta location is one in a statewide network of UCCE small grains variety trials.
UC Cooperative Extension will host the annual corn field meeting on Thursday, October 18, 2018, from 10:00am to noon, on Tyler Island in Sacramento County. The agenda is pasted below and attached. The attached version includes a map and directions to the field site.

I visited a lima bean field in the Delta at the beginning of June. The beans were showing what appeared to be dampening off symptoms (Figure 1), and dying plants were leaving large gaps down the rows. The problem was pretty widespread throughout the field.
