As the summer heat creeps up on us once again, we think about how to support our gardens to keep them growing and healthy with careful watering through our long hot days. Our plants and trees are not the only components of our gardens that need the support of water.

As spring ushers in warmer weather and longer days, it is the perfect time to embark on the journey of planting tomatoes. Whether you are a seasoned gardener or a novice with a green thumb, growing tomatoes can be a rewarding experience.

The 14th Annual Farm Connection Day (FCD) was held on May 3, 2024; where over 1,400 Yolo County K-6th graders converged on the Yolo County Fairgrounds for a half-day of food and agricultural related fun and exploration. By comparison, this event only had ~600 registered participants in 2019.

Let's chat about something a bit funky but oh-so-amazing for our gardens: chicken poop. It's jam-packed with all the good stuff plants love nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium you name it. Your veggies and flowers will be slurping up those nutrients like they've hit the jackpot at the salad bar.
